5 stars After having managed to get most of their catalogue I have to say that 'Lightbulb Sun' has to be one of Porcupine Tree's top three albums. 'Lightbulb Sun', 'Signify' and 'In Absentia' stand as the best that Porcupine Tree has done (except for some of the material on 'Recording' but that was during the 'Lightbulb Sun' sessions). The track 'Lightbulb Sun' opens the album in a catchy way and makes one think that it could be a repeat of 'Stupid Dream' almost, but soon it changes to 'How is your life today?' which is a nice and =even haunting piano ditty with a fairground effect at the end. 'Four Chords that Made a Million' is considered by some to be a terrible track but It's really one that comes down to preference. I enjoy it but I will have ot say that 'Shesmovedon' and 'Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth Before it is Recycled' are two of the greatest tracks on the album. Download "Shesmovedon' to see what I'm talking about. It goes right into 'lctepebiir' which kicks off as a nice tune and turns into an excellent work by the time it finishes. "The Rest Will Flow' is probably my least favorite but it is only 3 mins. long. It's a good song but it just doesn't do it for me like the others. 'Hatesong' is one of the heavier songs but it's still a great track. It's the hardest the cd gets until 'Russia on Ice'. 'Where We Would be' IT another good track. It too flows into the next track which it...'Russia On Ice'! One of my favorites on the album. The second half it really great too, you know it a Porcupine Tree record when you hear it. The closer 'Feel So Low' is one of the sadder songs but it's still a very good track. It does have a tendency to make you want to start the cd over again though but it's still great no the less. This album it a must for any fan of the group, or even if you aren't a fan you still need to check it out.
