3 stars Tellus Requiem is a young power/progressive metal band coming from Norway with 2 album s released so far. Their second release is Invictus (The 11th Hour) issued this year 2013. I like what I've heared here, the album has a fat sound and a very strong production, each instrument can be heared at full capacity on every pieces, and that is a good thing for sure, but not always the most important. Even the pieces are well constructed and has that catchy going one arrangements most of the time, I feel that Tellus Requien can do better then this, because the musicianship on some tracks are absolutly killer. The passages are sometimes to same as I've listned hundred times before on other bands of this type, this power/progressive metal kinda aproach is very popular in last years and many bands embrace this music. Anyway the best moments are in tracks like red horizon with some killer instrumental sections, I like very much the opera like female choirs very well integrated in this sound, Reflections Remain is avery intresting mid tempo piece that show big potential for the band, really nice, Sands of Gold is another highlight for sure. While I like as I said this album, has enough good moments to apprecited this album, overall is nothing groundbreaking or alike, influences from Symphony X or german power metal can be found here. 3.5 stars, good towards great but not fantastic, great cover art and quite odd aswell.
