2 stars Tornados and the wild BT mix

"Talula" contains two versions of this track from "Boys for Pele," the first which is called the tornado version (for use in the film "Twister") while the second is the adventurous "BT's Synethasia Mix." The former is similar to the album version with modest added beats. The latter version is some 11-plus minutes long and is basically the "rave" mix for Tori-heads with repetitive sampled snippets of Tori's vocal, a big and bubbly bass guitar, and driving rhythms. There's also some pretty cool swirling synthesizer effects that are a bit of a prelude to Choirgirl Hotel. At times it feels like Bjork stopped by Tori's flat, they had drinks, and threw this together. "Samurai" is a lovely unreleased track, as is the next one called "Frog on My Toe." This is a poignant track about loss and passing time that is really the best thing here. Last is a rather unremarkable cover of a song called "London Girls." Fun stuff for hard core fans here but that's the extent of the recommendation. You'll get a cool electonica version of "Talula" and a stoic little ditty about a frog named Jethro. Non Tori-philes can again stick with the album and pass on this one.
