4 stars For a protional in-store play compilation, this one is very good. It has some great Frank Zappa quotes (all from one radio interview), interspersed with tracks that span his entire career, from "Freak Out" to his final 1988 tour.

The only bad point is that it has the single edit versions of Don't Eat yellow Snow and Montana. Considering that the disk is almost seventy minutes long, and focuses on a lot of different aspects of his music, it's not a terrible thing to use those shortened versions.

And the collection has some spectacular music. It dares to contain Echidna's Arf (Of You) , one of Zappa's most challenging pieces, as well as the Drowning Witch from "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore - Vol. 3", a superior version to the original, and the great Royal March From L'Histoire du Soldat from "Make A Jazz Noise Here.

Between the music, and the commentary explaining some of his philosophies, this would be an excellent introduction to the world of Zappa.
