2 stars I don't have a lot of Biblical oriented music in my collection, but this is one of them. I picked it up strictly on the basis of being a big Wakeman fan at the time (still am, maybe not as big). The other Biblically themed album in my collection is the Resident's Wormwood, which is really a polar opposite. Where Wormwood is dark and interesting, In the Beginning is light and dull. Wormwood focuses on the more obscure parts of the Bible and In the Beginning focuses on better known bits.

Musically Wakeman delivers up interesting yet subtle background music for what is basically Biblical verse narration by Nina Carter. She has a nice voice. Wakeman's creativity is somewhat subordinated to the verses being read.

This project went to benefit ASSIST, an organization that was formed to help those who don't have freedom of religion in their own countries.

I keep it for it's novelty value and the value of having something somewhere in my collection that will interest just about anybody.
