4 stars Satchitananda - A thought away (1978) A lost gem indeed!

Superb album with tons of flute and a great rhythm section that definetly deserves to be more known in this site. The album starts in the best jazz fusion manner with the title track, clearly reminiscent of the first Return to Forever album, then arrives "The Whisper Heard Above The Roar", a delicate and beautiful Rhodes-voice interplay. The third track "Alpha and Omega" is one of the most Caravan sounding music I have ever heard, and my absolute favourite here. The fourth track "Destiny" is more pop sounding in the vein of the late Return To Forever with an astounding flute-lead ending. Fifth track "Listen to me" is an electric piano based tune that morphs into a highly dynamic fusion piece, again with a great flute at the end. The sixth track "Prelude" is a short piano-sax piece with a disco infused section in the middle. The last track "Along our way" is another highlight of the album, fast paced and combining vocals, flute, sax and the excellent rhythm section.

To those who are looking for bands with a similar sound to Caravan but without being clones, check this out! Four starts. Extremely recommended if you love Canterbury or Jazz-Rock Fusion.
