3 stars While this is not ENO's best outing,it is not his worst either. On this release ENO has selected a stellar line up of ambient musicans to help him round out the sound on this one.Guest artists include HAROLD BUDD,ROGER ENO and JOHN PAUL JONES(!),among many others. The sound on this one is a bit more electronica and less ambient than previous attempts.Much less in the line of soundscapes than the earlier MUSIC FOR FILMS series. But with ENO,everything is constantly changing and in flux,so you know that this will more than likely not be the last in the MUSIC FOR FILMS series.Eno continues to blaze a trail for others to follow, and while his attempts are often hit or miss, you can always be prepared for the unexpected! The sound on this one flows very well and while it doesn't really break any new ground,I like this release and would rate it at 3.5 stars.

2 stars This ambient "Music Fro Films III" isn't a thrilling work as far as I am concerned. While I discovered this work, I thought: hey, nothing great here but nothing wrong either. Most of the songs sound rather flat and uninspired. But Eno has scarcely been one of my favorite artists to tell the truth (but you can read this through my previous reviews).

For sure, the music held in here is quite relaxing but when I compare it to some great German bands, I am quite disappointed. Of course, some of these short pieces are quite nice to listen to ("White Mustang") and they display a true ethereal beauty and increase the quality level of this album.

If you are in for long pieces of music à la KS or TD, I am afraid that this album (as plenty of other Eno ones) won't fit in your shoes.

It is a decent moment of music to laze on a Sunday afternoon, but no more. Some spacey stuff is also enjoyable but there are very few great moments available. There is absolutely no need for a track by track description (as many of his albums).

Two stars.
