Expatriated biography
Founded in Horsens, Denmark in 2009

Expatriated was formed in 2009 from the remnants of the folk metal orchestra BRAGE. Driven by a strong desire to create and experiment with music they decided to form a band with a more progressive direction, heavily influenced by scandinavian prog- and black metal acts. They recorded a first demo in 2010. By then the band consisted of Henrik Kanstrup-Smith (drums), Nikolaj Bak (guitar, vocals), Rasmus Hell Nielsen (guitar) and Jens Gadeberg (bass).

Their second demo from 2013 showed a departure from their black metal roots. With its long intricate songs and constantly changing meters and dynamics - paying ample respect to Opeth's Blackwater Park - the foundation was laid for their full-length 2018 debut "The Last Trace of the Imprudent".
