Quark Aeon biography
Quark Aeon (Æon) from Vancouver, Canada is the brainchild of JD Gatten who writes, composes, and performs the music and lyrical content, with additional help.

Heavily influenced by '70s space rock, science fiction, antiquity, and esoteric philosophy, the general aura of the band would suit most Pink Floyd and Tangerine Dream enthusiasts, as well as those aficionados acquainted with prog-related or crossover artists like Radiohead, Steven Wilson, and Alan Parsons Project.

His only release to date, No Longer Indigo, takes the listener on a futuristic journey through a potent variety of content. Full band compositions segue into arcane special effects and sounds generated with a variety of old and new synthesizers and guitar effects. A concept album thus emerges of a hapless android defector in pursuit of his (unrequited) human love interest, and subsequently pursued himself by an unrelenting villain. The album is coloured by stitching together a plethora of motifs and genre-bending components including progressive crossover, crunchy 90s distortion, and whimsical time-signature changes in the rock songs which give way to soundtrack-esque soundwaves and stargates leading to utter climactic cacophony.

More experimental and brave-minded individuals might enjoy the entirety of the album, including its purely instrumental sound effect tracks, while others may prefer the more relaxing, sweeping Vangelisian synthscapes. Still, others may prefer the accessible crossover elements of the full band efforts.
