Lumen biography
LUMEN were an American post-rock quartet formed in San Francisco, California in 1997. Their members were Jeffrey ROSENBERG (formerly of Tarentel), Jeffrey KANE, David BLEI and Andee CONNORS (of A Minor Forest). Their sole album was released on Temporary Residence in 2001, entitled "The Man Felt an Iron Hand Grasp Him by the Hair, at the Nape. Not One Hand, a Hundred Hands Seized Him, Each by the Hair, and Tore Him Head to Foot, the Way You Tear Up a Sheet of Paper, Into Hundreds of Little Pieces". While the exact roles of the musicians are unclear, the eight-track record is a mostly acoustic work featuring accordion, organ, upright bass, acoustic guitar and drums, weaving together influences from 1970s progressive rock, Steve Reich and John Fahey.

Similar artists in the archives include Tarentel, Gastr del Sol, Hungry Ghosts, Cheval de Frise, Unwed Sailor and the Album Leaf.
