Ventifacts biography
Ventifacts are an American progressive rock supergroup/duo founded in 2019 and composed of vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Ben Spees (of The Mercury Tree and The Proletarians) and Damon Waitkus (of Jack O' The Clock), regularly accompanied by backup musicians such as drummer Connor Reilley, bassist Oliver Campbell and violinist Emily Packard. Ventifacts retains The Mercury Tree's distinctive microtonal harmonies and heavy prog influence but tones down its psychedelic qualities in its combination with Jack O' The Clock's folkish sensibilities and exotic instrumentation. The duo recorded their debut album remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic by constantly sending recordings back and forth between their respective residences in Oregon and Vermont, before finally releasing it in 2021.
