Saagara biography
Saagara is one of the many projects of Polish avant-garde jazz artist Wacław Zimpel who as a solo artists has received critical acclaim for his unique mix of post-minimalism, avant-jazz, the Polish Yass style of jazz, progressive electronic, drone and ambient. The Saagara project was formed in Bangalore, India in 2013 which is essentially Wacław Zimpel's Indian orchestra, is very reminiscent of John McLaughlin's Shakti featuring a different take on that band's classic raga rock meets jazz-fusion.

So far the band has released two albums which feature a unique mix of Indian music of the Karnatic tradition mixed with chamber jazz and fusion. The band received positive reviews on tour having performed in Europe and rekindles that Indo-raga rock spirit that was so popular during the late 1960s and all throughout the 1970s. Unlike many similar acts, Saagara are masters of interweaving Western and Eastern influences into a cohesive whole. The band consists of five virtuosos and is quite energetic and complex.
