Wojciech Konikiewicz biography
Born in Wrocław, Wojciech Konikiewicz is a Polish musician working with keyboards and synthesizers in the fields of jazz, rock, film and electronic music. Konikiewicz has been active as a session player, composer and sound engineer since the 1980's, performing in over a dozen ensembles and scoring soundtracks to Polish and foreign films and theatre productions.

While his discography primarily consists of solo and collaborative affairs in more straightforward jazz-oriented spheres, Konikiewicz's presence in the progressive electronic archives is owed to his 1993 album Muzyka nowej przestrzeni. Considered an undersung milestone in the Polish electronic music scene due to its aversion to the more drum machine and sequencer-heavy Berlin School artists of the period, Muzyka nowej przestrzeni contains five instrumentals of pensive, legato ambient drift close to the style of Brian Eno, Steve Roach or Robert Rich. Recorded in the summer of 1990, the album was released three years later on cassette in two volumes after Konikiewicz struggled to find an interested record label, with his work only reissued to the greater world via GAD Records in 2020.

Konikiewicz again touched upon progressive rock with his duo 2WKL, a partnership with France-based drummer and fellow composer Dawid Wojtek Lewandowski. In 2000, the duo released their sole LP, Cyber Ya2z, culled from a single recording session the prior year, featuring a fusion of ethnic music, ambient, jazz and funk.
