Væver biography
From Næstved, Denmark, Væver originated as the band Alces formed in 2015 by Morten Holck Ertner (drums), Martin Emil Friis Nielsen (guitar) and Magnus Elskær Hansen (bass, vocals). Three years of hard work in their rehearsal space resulted in the s/t debut album by Alces in 2018. Soon after, Axel Schjerning Kjeldsen (guitar) joined the band now promoted as Væver and a period of songwriting and occasional concerts - including support for Bloodshot Dawn and Virvum among others - followed. During this period they were supported by the ORTA project AuditionDays for upcoming artists and assisted by Dúné bassist Piotrek Wasilewski and Jacobi Sound Production. With this support - preceded by two singles in 2021 - 2023 finally saw the first full-length release of the band as Væver containing three of the Alces album?s four tracks. With lyrics in their native language Danish, the album manifests Greek mythology as an inspirational source since the band?s origin and reveals a mix of progressive metal, tech/extreme prog metal, jazz rock/fusion and even heavy prog.

In their own words, they are a post prog band drawing inspiration from Tool and Opeth spiced with the improvisational way of thinking in jazz.

Their music bears resemblances with the aforementioned bands Tool and Opeth as well as Steven Wilson.
