Vin de Mia Trix biography
Hailing from Kiev, Vin de Mia Trix are a Ukrainian atmospheric death-doom band formed in 2007. The vision of guitarist and audio engineer Serge Pokhvala, Vin de Mia Trix was initially to be a funeral doom project in the vein of groups like Urna and Until Death Overtakes Me before developing into something more eclectic. Combining influences from Esoteric, Pink Floyd, Evoken, Opeth, My Dying Bride, Katatonia and Mournful Congregation along with post-rock and European classical music, Vin de Mia Trix craft long-form works which recall the labyrinthine song structures of 1970s progressive rock.

Vin de Mia Trix took shape with an unstable lineup before the addition of lead vocalist Andriy Tkachenko in 2008 and bassist/vocalist Alex Vynogradoff (the person behind A Noend of Mine and formerly of Kauan) in 2009. Victor Samylkin served as drummer and programmer from 2008 to 2012, accompanying the band through their independent inaugural releases, 2009's El sue�o de la raz�n produce monstruos EP and an untitled 2012 promo CDR. Vin de Mia Trix signed with Canadian label Hypnotic Dirge Records in early 2013, with Igor Babayev joining as permanent drummer the same year. The result of three painstaking years of writing and recording, Vin de Mia Trix's debut LP, Once Hidden from Sight, was jointly released by Hypnotic Dirge with Solitude Productions in summer 2013. The band wasted no time working on their follow-up, featuring songs written years prior to their debut, while releasing 2015's Live in Kharkiv and a 2016 split with U.S. band Nethermost in the interim.

2017 saw the release of the band's sophomore album, Palimpsests, along with the subsequent addition of Yurii Sirenko (of prog metal band Logical Riddle) as second guitarist. Again co-released by Hypnotic Dirge along with Cimmerian Shade Recordings, Palimpsests demonstrated a marked advancement in ambition and execution, bringing to the forefront the prog-minded songwriting only hinted in their prior work and featuring synthesizer contributions from Tim Six, ambient artist and the band's original vocalist. After a five-year silence, Vin de Mia Trix returned in 2022 with the Waves~Stars EP, produced by Sirenko and self-released via Bandcamp. The EP showed the group moving deeper into progressive waters, with all proceeds from its sales benefitting Babaiev's humanitarian efforts to aid beleaguered Ukrainian civilians in the wake of the reactionary 2022 Russian invasion.

Vin de Mia Trix's atypical and immersive doom will appeal to fans of Odradek Room, Epitaphe, Green Carnation, Dark Millennium, Mourning Beloveth and My Dying Bride.
