Advocacy biography
Formed 2015 in Aarhus, Denmark ADVOCACY comprises only original member S�ren Kjeldsen (vocals, guitar), Peter Juelsgaard (replacing original bassist Marcin Szymanek in 2017), Andreas Bek Nygaard Hansen (replacing original member Frederik Berner on drums in 2019) and guitarists Peter Locher and S�ren Wind who replaced original member Jonas Metze Holme in 2018 and Louis Sebastian Velasquez-Christensen N�rgaard (a member since 2018) in 2022, respectively.

Contributing death metal vocals in death/thrash metal/metal core act AFSKUM until 2008, psychologist S�ren Kjeldsen refined his vocal abilities citing Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle) as a major influence with initial additional impetus from Opeth and Tool, which explains the Mikael �kerfeldt comparison met in album reviews. He states that his lyrics are based on topics of existentialism, societal issues and the stormy depths of the human mind (not unlike Dizzy Mizz Lizzy's Tim Christensen).

The most recent member, S�ren Wind - raised on Meat Loaf, Metallica and Korn but matured on Porcupine Tree, Opeth and Meshuggah started out as a drummer in Chainsaw Fisting and a Rage Against The Machine cover band before being introduced to Septicflesh, Cannibal Corpse and not the least, Devin Townsend. Besides supplying guitar, he contributes graphics, video and animation for Advocacy.

Schooled in classical percussion, 2017 Danish champion in snare drumming, cosmologist Andreas Nygaard remains involved in many different orchestras including, now defunct, Modern Percussion and finds inspiration in symphonic metal such as Nightwish, Rhapsody Of Fire and Within Temptation as well as power metal including Gloryhammer and Amaranthe.

During high school, Peter Locher played in a hard rock cover band in the years 2015-2017 while gaining a sound knowledge of Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, Trivium and the like before joining Advocacy. While in Mississippi, astrophysicist Peter Juelsgaard Gjaldb�k played in a punk band and was introduced to the local metal underground before returning to Denmark to play in rock'n'roll ensemble Torque alongside brutal death metal project Pit Of Carnage. He leans towards extreme and progressive death metal bands like Beyond Creation, Cryptopsy, Ne Obliviscaris and Sunless Dawn.

It wasn't until 2023 that new music with the current lineup was released culminating in the 2024 debut LP "The Path Of Decoherence" showing a matured band relying on progressive metal as a marriage of old school progressive metal with modern approaches including djent sounds combined with epic vocal harmonies and jazz time signatures.
