MOONLIGHT AGONY are a Swedish progressive power metal act formed in 1999 in Kungsbacka. MOONLIGHT AGONY were formerly known as THORIN and MOONLIGHT SONATA. The band released three demos before releasing their debut full-length studio album "Echoes of a Nightmare" through Massacre Records in 2004. The album features prolific Sri Lanka born vocalist Chitral Somapala. After a few lineup changes which included the replacement of Chitral Somapala with new vocalist David Akesson, MOONLIGHT AGONY released their 2nd full-length studio album "Silent Waters" in 2007. The band are currently working on a third album.

The inclusion of MOONLIGHT AGONY to the Prog Archives database was approved by the Progressive Metal Team.
