Eighth Whale biography
EIGHTH WHALE is a heavy progressive rock band based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania formed by bassist Aaron MEYERS, drummer DJ ZACCARI, keyboardist Jesse SPILLANE, and guitarist Trevor RICHARDS in August of 2009. The band began working on their debut EP in January 2010 and managed to record and release it by February of the same year. The four-track EP is entitled "Basement EP." MEYERS left some time after the release of the EP, and the band found Allison KACMAR to replace him. ''Live at Howlers'' was recorded in 2010 but saw the light of day in 2014. Similarly, the band's self-titled debut, which was recorded in 2011, was finally released in 2014.

The band's style is based in jazz piano overlayed with hard rock guitar riffs and complex rhythmical arrangements to make a dense form of heavy prog. Recommended for fans of hard jazz rock.
