Zydra biography
ZYDRA is a heavy progressive rock band founded in Santiago, Chile in 2006 by guitarist Pablo LA'RONA and keyboardist Mauriio OLIVARES. The band formed after the dissolution of the band BLACK BABYLON. ZYDRA existed in a number of forms before the release of their debut album, including vocalists Hugo HINJOSA and Maria Jose SANCHEZ, bassists Joaquin QUEZADA and Felipe LEYTON, and drummers Daniel FROMMER and Carlos VARGAS. Despite so much shifting, the band still managed to release their debut, IX, in 2011. After the release, however, the band dissolved.

Not soon after dissolution, the band reformed in 2012 with a new lineup to begin work on their second album.

The band's fusion of neo-prog melodic elements, jazz-based rhythms, and progressive metal riffs make a unique but powerful combination combing all the best elements of bands such as SYLVAN and DISPERSE with DREAM THEATER and MATRAZ. The band will appeal to fans of progressive metal based heavy prog bands such as ARCANE and HAKEN.
