THE BALTIC SEA is a self-proclaimed atmospheric post-rock band that was formed in Portland, Maine 2005 by guitarist/vocalist Todd HUTCHISEN, bassist Jeremy SMITH, guitarist Ray SUHY, guitarist/vocalist Nate JOHNSON and drummer Jason STEWART.

Influenced by the atmospheres created by emo band SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE and the instrumentation of MOGWAI, THE BALTIC SEA creates a well-rounded post-rock sound that uses vocals to benefit the stellar musicianship. Their work is very adventurous and explores all directions of the far boundaries of the post-rock genre.

The band has been very active since their inception and in 2011 released their most recent work ?Period Piece? which received a fair amount of critical praise.
