Cryptodira biography
CRYPTODIRA is a progressive death metal/post metal band from Long Island, NY. The band consists of Scott ACQUAVELLA (vocals, guitar), Shane KENNEDY (bass), Mike MONACO (guitar), and Matt TAIBI (drums). At the time of writing, they are unsigned and have released two EPs, ''The Four Quarters'' in January 2012 and ''Recursions'' a year later.

The band has both extreme metal and post metal leanings, which renders their sound an interesting and rather intriguing mix of two broad schools: that of the progressive thrash/death (CYNIC, MESHUGGAH, OPETH, DEATH, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME) and that of post metal (ISIS, THE OCEAN COLLECTIVE, INTRONAUT). Their latest EP is a fine example of this sound amalgam.
