Journal biography
JOURNAL are a tech-extreme progressive metal band from Sacramento, California, USA, formed in the summer of 2003 by Joseph VAN HOUTEN (guitar) and Justin TVETAN (drums). Their first EP ''Casualties of War'' came out in April 2007 with Mike ZANOLINI on vocals and Ryan FULLER on guitars, which would later be replaced. Tony JUVINAL (guitars), Danny PAUL (Bass) and guest vocal performances by Jesse ALFORD (EMBRACE THE END), Drew WINTER (FATE), Akoni BERMAN (THE HUMAN EQUATION) completed the line-up for the band's debut album ''Unlorja'' (an anagram of the band's name). The band currently continues as a three-piece with founding members VAN HOUTEN and TVETAN plus JUVINAL on guitars.

Highly influenced by acts such as THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN but also 8-Bit Nintendo games, JOURNAL offer an almost chaotic mix of extreme, technical progressive metal.
