3 stars Heatwave were the logical step after Nostalgia for guitarist Massimo Mazzeo. At the end' of the 90's Mazzeo focused on producing music arrangements for vocals and guitar, thus bringing the new project Heatwave on surface along with female guitarist Paola Buscaglia. The first album ''Inside me, out of time'' was recorded at the Underground Studios in Sanremo and released on Mellow Records in 1999, featuring the performances of Nostalgia bandmate Andrea Romano on bass and electric guitar and ex-St. Tropez'es Enzo Cioffi on drums.Several other less known guests appear also in individual pieces, performing on keyboards, organ, slide guitar, fiddles and harp.

Ok, anyone looking for refined, warm and delicate Acoustic Rock music will find his peace in this album.A beautiful work of ethereal soundscapes, airy arrangements and folky atmospheres, occasionally breaking into the territories of Classical and Art Rock music, as proposed in the fourteen short tracks. For the most of its part ''Inside me, out of time'' is driven by Mazzeo's work on acoustic guitar and Buscaglia's absolutely crystalline voice, still supported by bass and drums. The music is sensitive, well-arranged, albeit a bit poppy for all former Nostalgia fans, but the songwriting is solid, the musicianship is pretty elegant and the atmospheres created end up to be very dreamy and well-displayed.Several tracks offer a richer enviroment, either through the use of organ and synthesizers in a Symphonic Pop mood, or the use of more classic instruments like flutes and strings.Others are enriched by the discreet, melodic electric guitars with a slight GENESIS vibe, somewhat recalling NOSTALGIA's previous albums, as the demised Italian group always had a soft, romantic atmosphere.Overall this work flows with comfort, based on elaborate musical pieces with an intense lyrical content and a relaxed but well-executed instrumental background.

A nice little gem for all fans of Art Rock, Acoustic Rock and even Folk Rock.Decent material, highlighted by Buscaglia's lovely voice and Mazzeo's interesting acoustic passages.Recommended.
