2 stars A very rare live set performed at the BBC studios by Syd Barrett with the help of Jerry Shirley and Dave Gilmour in February 1970 and later broadcasted in March of the same year. It was only officially released in 2004, but plenty of bootlegged versions of the live broadcast concert abound.

The relatively few songs offered up are merely adequate offerings of studio versions, as Syd had already started his downwards decline by this stage. Sound quality is below average. The total music on the disc adds up to about 20 minutes, but still, finding anything 'live' by Mr. Barrett is pretty challenging, hence the market for this kind of release.

The last three tracks taken from a seperate BBC recording session and also broadcasted (an alternate take of 'Baby Lemonade', 'Dominoes' and 'Love Song') have extremely poor sound quality. The reason being is that they were taken from a bootlegged radio-recording vinyl LP made in the 1970's and digitised (including clicks, pops and all) for this official BBC release. Unfortunately, the Beeb lost the original recordings of these three tunes.

The only real/official Live Syd Barrett material available, and thus quite valued by collectors. 2/5 stars for the average fan though.
