I don't own a mobile phone, as I think they are an intrusion into ones privacy (whether they belong to you or not...) and consequently think they should be banned in all public places.  The penalty for such an intrusion should be the awarding of a 'free kick' to the nearest bystander who would be allowed one go at putting the heal of their boot through the display screen....Clap

Well said Jared. I only have a mobile phone for work and probably would only have my own one for emergencies (as I have no friends to talk to). I don't understand why people have to talk so loudly on the Tube - I don't want to hear their stupid phone calls. I can hear them over the top of Opeth, shut up!

(calms down).

Try out your best Mikael Akerfeldt impression on them and maybe they'll go away.  Wink

hmmm...there may be an advantage to having a mobile, after all...Ermm

I remember sitting on a train and listening to a priceless one sided conversation by the knuckle-dragger on the seat in front of me, who had just received the startling news that Bazza had just discovered that Kazza had been having an affair for several months, and was on the war path...Shocked

...as the conversation wended its interminable way toward Manchester Piccadilly, Bazza's own indiscrections came to light as the caller's own sympathies changed personal alliegances more often than he did, seating positions...Stern%20Smile

ultimately, no fellow passenger could remain emotionally detatched from Kazza's plight, as a tear glazed over even the stoniest of faces...Cry

...truly one for Bill Bryson...Embarrassed

I hate it, I use one for work...........and have one with me when I'm on my bike, but it's for ESSENTIAL calls only, it doesn't do pictures (I use a camera for that) it doesn't do video (I use the cmcorder for that) and it don't play music............I have ways of getting that too............
I can NOT believe that people find the sound quality of a phone an acceptable way to play music! We are going backwards.......... its RUBBISH!

Great news for all GR denizens - well, those of you who are aware of mine & Vicky's local pub 'Our Mutual Friend' anyway...

Last night, they were awarded CAMRA's pub of the year award for the third year running - Huzzah - first pub ever to do so.

Vicks and I intend to 'assist' in the celebrations this evening, so if any posts I make tomorrow morning are a little more vague than usual, you know why...
