Kathaaria are a German progressive black metal duo from Marl, consisting of guitarist Denis Schneider (aka Opolus) and drummer/vocalist John Grumptmann (aka Helvegr).
The original lineup was a trio featuring Michael Schwarz (aka Sado Ivan) on drums. The band issued their first demo, Promo 2000, at the turn of the century, playing a brand of black metal influenced by Hellhammer, Darkthrone and even Coroner. Schwarz would leave the band late 2001, with Grumptmann taking over drum duties and eventually changing his nom de guerre to Helvegr. Kathaaria's sophomore 2003 demo would compile their first release along with a Sabbat cover from a tribute compilation, along with two new songs, "Venus Dementia" and "To Dare Not Speak Its Name," which expanded on the experimentation at which the band only hinted on their first demo. Demonstrating more challenging and progressive compositions taking inspiration from the more avant-garde strains of French and Norwegian black metal, those tracks would be re-recorded for Kathaaria's debut and sole album, The Complex Void of Negativity, released by End All Life Productions in 2008. After over a decade of inactivity, Kathaaria featured a new song on the Celticmoon tribute album Crows Gather in 2019.
Kathaaria will inspire fans of Ved Buens Ende, Shining, Dødheimsgard, Onirik, Farsot and Thorns. ![]() "The Complex Void of Negativity" (2008) Edited by Gordy - September 06 2021 at 20:56 |

I still need an official (or at least a worthy site about this band) link to be able to add them to progfreak.

There is precious little to offer. The best I could find was a link to Norma Evangelium Diaboli's merch page, which officially distributes Kathaaria's album since their label End All Life Productions seems to have ceased operations: https://www.noevdia.com/shop/kathaaria-the-complex-void-of-negativity-cd/ I found an archived version of the old EAL website circa 2008 which mentions Kathaaria and their forthcoming record: https://web.archive.org/web/20081202022404/http://www.e-a-l.com:80/index.php?page=news There was apparently an unofficial Facebook page for the band but it's defunct: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kathaaria/114221062001074

Could their Encyclopaedia Metallum page be appropriate? It's the most concise compilation of information found on the band anywhere on the web (that I've found).

As per section 1.e) in the artist submission procedure guidelines, "links to the bands official website, websites that have written about the band, or helpful links in general" are acceptable, and I've provided examples that address the latter two of the three stipulations.
Since the radio silence from the team signals these links are unwelcome, I dug deep and found three interviews with the band from 2002 to 2003 which surely should fit under "helpful links in general" that also "writ[e] about the band." I don't understand why this particular suggestion has fallen under scrutiny as, for instance, my last super-obscure krautrock addition (Schlachtvieh) was accepted (and later cleared) on Progfreak without any "official" website or need for me to provide one. 2002 interview (in Spanish): ~2002 interview: 2003 interview:

Forwarded to PM team. The Bio will probably be quite sparse if it passes. That and the fact that there is only one album available and that it was released in 2008 doesn't necessarily put a "priority" on the band. Nevertheless, we'll give it a whirl.
