Topic: Should Split Enz be on the Archives Posted: October 19 2006 at 19:12 |
I want to know what people think, please note if you have not heard their first three albums and don't think the are prog vote the third options, since will contaminate the vote. I know those that know them well think the belatedly deserve a place here, but due to the fact Split Enz were very obscure when they were a prog band, and so most only remeber them when they became radio friendly pop. They are not I repeat not a new wave band, they formed in 1972; new wave didn't exist back then. Its just that around about 1978 onwards the encorporated a new wave sound, but still had traces of prog in their music.
I still cannot figure out why the are not on the archives its absurd .
But anyway vote, enjoy and discuss

You might win the battle if you didnt appear so desperate...
Put Split Enz on the Archives:Prognosis has them also,Progressive Ears,New Gibralter Encyc,Ungers Wonderful World,Amazon describes their debut;Mental Notes as prog
listen to their first 3 albums
You have shares in their record company?

I think Cheese was (is) a band member!
Anyway, I heard some of their first output and I vote yes - Prog-Related, maybe!

I only have one of their albums (the one with "I Got You") and their music definitely wasn't prog then, however I can't comment on their first 3 albums so I would need to hear them first. The only way to solve this one, Cheesecakemouse, is to send us all copies of these 3 albums! Actually, why don't you post a thread for Split Enz in the Suggest New Bands thread and upload some MP3 samples, then we can consider them!

I have their "Second Thoughts" album 1976, and I think they are prog, although having popish moments. Art-work is ridiculous though.

My knowledge in terms of computers with uploading etc is pitiful,so I don't know if I can do that, but by Brother in law has a degree in computing perhaps he can help me, I'd be glad to do it, if I can.

I've only heard some tunes on raido and on that, they wouldn't raise much interest from my part, but in all fairness I decline to vote.

I've checked the website out, but isn't it illegal for me to send the music to your website.
Also a big problem is the official Split Enz website does not have mp3s due to some kind of financial problems of the website.
