I've been checking out a band called Red Orchid recently.

You can find their album here. It should mainly appeal to fans of Heavy Prog/Neo/Nu.

 Red Orchid is a progressive rock band from Northern Virginia/Wash D.C
area founded by songwriter, guitarist and singer San Sidhu. He is
joined by dynamic and versatile Tom Dupree on Drums, Rick Stu on Piano
and long time friend Steven X on Bass. The band draws its inspiration
from classic and modern prog rock bands such as Pink Floyd, Camel,
Rush, Porcupine Tree, Opeth, amongst others.

Red Orchid released their debut "Sky is falling" in December '09.
Album was initially released as full length LP but later reissued as a
6 track EP (plus 2 bonus tracks ) due to the musical direction band was
inclined towards and to emphasis on a stronger progressive edge in its
compositions. The 45 minute musical journey engages audience by
offering catchy riffs, melodic song structures and meaningful lyrics.
Compositions often emcompass progressive writing with accessible song
arrangements. 

Red Orchid continues to explore new musical territories and further
embelish its sound by integrating elements of Indian classical music
such as Sitar, Tabla and Bansuri into its compositions, as can be heard
in "Far from home" and "Silence Within".

I hear bits of Rush and PT in there and track 5, Far From Home, has a nice eclectic, exotic feel with its sitar and tabla.
