Today I received acopy of SOLUS3 debut album "The Sky Above the Roof" from my friend Ian BLackaby (Bass player of Lunar Dunes already in Psyche).
Listened the album and believe it's 100% Prog and delightful, but have a bit of troubles trying to locate them,
The options are Folk, Eclectic, Fusion and even Avant......Would be a shame not to add them
Band Info:
Members:
Julie Thorton (Roxy Music & Bryan Ferry): Harp, Percussion, Piano, Vibes
Hamilton Lee (Transglobal Underground, UNITE, Lunar Dunes) : Drums, Percussion, Loops, PianoTheremin.
Ian Blackaby (Lunar Dunes): Bass and Backwards Piano
Guests:
Stacey Clarcke: Canadian Soprano
Seb Hunter (Guitar)
Elii Gruba: Thoat singer
James Williams: Trumpet
Even when they are a British band, one of the songs is a poem by Spanish maestro Federico García Lorca
Samples and full tracks:
Will leave a copy of this post in Folk and Eclectic.

This does sound like a great case for Eclectic IMO.

I agree with Eclectic. Beautiful music, but I personally can't picture them as being a good fit for Prog Folk. They are being reviewed by the PF team though; will keep you posted.

I listened earlier and while it doesn't strike me as that "right" for Eclectic, I can't think of a better place for it. Folk is the next best category.

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Everyteam has their policy, but I believe hat a Prog band should be added in the best possible place before than being kept in stand by waiting for the perfect location that will probably never be found. Eclectic is a good call IMO, because they present elements of different genres.
But that's my 2 cents only.

^ A position I agree with. In fact, when I was involved in team work I would vote okay for those that I felt had equal merit in other categories, and sometimes vote yes even when I felt there was a better category so that the process didn't drag on for a long time (could always fine-tune placement after addition) -- if I felt something clearly wrong for the category, well then I wouldn't have voted yes of course. This one would have had a "fine" vote from me based on my listening. When I can easily discern at least three core Prog subcategory elements in the music without it favouring any particular one of those (crosses at least three Prog categories to create an eclectic mix), then it becomes easier.

I vote for folk, because it is the predominant factor, though I agree there are other influences

I have to thank our dear Bald Jean, she helped me with the band, being that she''s much more familiar than e with this unusual bands.
I just talked with Ian Blackaby (The bass player) and he thanked us, because most critics were so lost, that hardly heard all the album.

Good news. A bizarre and essentially Eclectic album.

Thank you everyone for giving this so much thought and consideration and thank you Ivan for the fantastic review. Very much appreciated and I am also pleased to see this record in Eclectic with Fripp, VdGG and Gentle Giant. Best. IB
