Great band! I have their two first albums, both are very fine works of 70's Prog Rock. If anyone has heard the reunion album, please tell me what it's like.

Lady Lake is a great album, and I think its quite even too. 4 stars, definitly. Although I don´t listne to it as much as I did in the begining, I believe its a great album, and the title song is absolutly brilliant

I got "Gnosis" in the mail today and have had the one listen. I quite enjoyed what I heard ...and a bit of an Aussie flavour with one instrumental track featuring that uniquely Australian instrument, the didgeridoo, a legacy of it being recorded in Cairns, Far North Queensland.

I have "In Spite Of Harry's Toenail" and "Live 1972"; both are albums I really enjoy.
 
I thought I had myself a copy of "Lady Lake" courtesy of eBay, but it is beginning to look like my money might have set sail on the rip-off ship ... it has been about eight weeks since I paid for it. Angry It is looking like I may have to fork out for another copy soon.
 
Bottom line: I think Gnidrolog are well worth the effort to hunt out for any collection Thumbs%20Up

Well, the ship finally came in ... and it wasn't the rip-off ship at all; Lady Lake turned up at the post office today some 75 days after I paid for it! The small dent in my faith in the human animal has now been patched up. Thumbs%20Up
 
The first listen has been very enjoyable, espeically the opening track "I Could Never Be A Soldier", which is playing through for the second time as I type. Approve

Lady Lake is cool!  The first track, I Could Never Be A Soldier, is the best, awesome song...the rest is OK!

I've heard only "In Spite Of Harry's Toe-Nail", where "Long Live Man Dead Skull", "Snails" and "Time and Space" are veruy good songs.

Sounds little bit like.. Henry Cow with Slapp Happy as a male : )

Yes and VdGG, with those nice heavy melodies and riffs... and some flute and.. litlle bit Gong, maybe..

Reminding of avant-garde,, you know those occasionally heavy chamber avants..
(Like Guapo, Happy Family, Island, Le Silo, Miasma.., Nazca --- not chamber o's : ) though ) Well, not with chamber orchestra or with those zeuhlish or canterurysh jazz elements rolling,, or with avant-noise... But with those occasional explotions.

This is quite clear, but progressive. Psychedelic art rock.. Maybe a bit Jethro Tull, but maybe more Gryphon or Gentle Giant's vandergraafgeneratorish light-heavy psychosongs. Hmm.. krautrock in Time and Space ending..

Atmospheric, space.

Have to listen more.

You need to listen a few more times, the whole album is great. Especially the title track.

I bought both the first 2 albums at the same time on vinyl from a second hand shop back in the early seventies and still have them! Couldn`t get into them at first because I hated the album art on Lady Lake (  I still hate it! ). But after forcing myself to listen to In Spite of Harry`s Toenail I was totally freaked out. I don`t think the comparisons to VDGG, GG, JT and early KK are fair because these guys were  exploring and experimenting just like everybody else was  back then and as far as I can see have their own distinctive sound. It reminds me of the FRUPP/ Genesis comparisons I`ve heard over the years, the only thing they had in common was that one opened for the other at gigs in the early `70s.  None theless Grindrolog is definitely one of the most overlooked prog bands from the glory years of prog . Definitely go for it.

But Lady Lake, it's more basic,,,, classic rock, and I like Toe-Nail maybe more because it is more heavy or something.. ( PS "I could never be a soldier" reminds me of Wishbone Ash - Warrior)
