Topic: Excuse Me. I´m in love with Prog Music. Posted: November 25 2009 at 22:42 |
Hey, Proggers from the Universe, please let me share with all U a secret from the stars. I´ve been rescuered from the apathy shadows of my sadness. I´ve been in problems (PF fans here know it very well... ), but inside the deep pool of my heart sounds began to shine, and they were good to my soul. Now I´m launching my life again to the surface of the earth, flight 7776, and I must give thanks to MUSIC, prog music for existing. (I love U, my dear.)
The guilties of my joy now are these 3 albums. I hope you can undersatand this crazy words from a traveller in time:
- MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA: Live at Music Hall, Clevaland.
- REINASSANCE: Live at Carnegie Hall.
- URIAH HEEP: Demons & Wizards.
If anybody wants to show his/her experience with something simmilar, I would read you very patiently and interested.
Thanks for all, and long live to PROGRACHIVES.

Music has always been very important in my whole life. I think I have a musical scale inside me.
God bless to you too and thanks for the reply.

Well...I would have suffered from a REALLY difficult adolescence if it hadn't been for three albums I kept playing through my most "life sucks" year 1999-2000 that helped to considerably raise my spirits:
1. Tales from Topographic Oceans 2. Foxtrot 3. Transatlantic's SMPTE
Of course there were MANY others, but these three I remember were on HEAVY rotation, every day...

I'm in love with the first four Kayak albums. I've been listening to the songs of Kayak from my 14th and it still has never led me down. This week drummer/composer Pim Koopmans died of an instant heart failure at age 56. This is for him!

Come on, grow the f**k up, seriously. You cannot be serious that suddenly, out of nowhere, "prog music" just made you happy. I mean, geezus, I play guitar 2 hours a day minimum, bass guitar an hour a day, study audio engineering and listen to music, I practically live and breathe music, but I can accept music isn't the be end all of things that are going to lead to some kind of ultimate happiness. I figure that if I see about 5 more of this really silly, ridiculous and inane threads, I couldn't bear to post here anymore, because it's just so hard to take a forum board seriously when you have topics like these.

If some music has made a difference in someone's life, I won't rain on their parade.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Petrovsk!
1. Good luck with your musical practice.
2. Don't rain on their parade - INDEED! I well remember how, back in 1975, I suddenly discovered THE YES ALBUM, CLOSE TO THE EDGE and WHO'S NEXT, thinking: "This is it!" The music made me instantaneously and miraculously happy, and it has kept doing so ever since. (The glory of CTTE has faded a little, but the other two never disappoint me.) And I'm talking TRUE HAPPINESS here.

Toughen up, hip boy. I play guitar 35 hour a day, study quantum physics and pursue a career in space exploration. Perhaps you know my son, who's about your age - his name is Leonardo da Vinci. By the way, did I mention that I play guitar (and of course bass and mandolin and bicycle) 45 hours a day minimum. Oh, and of course, I'm not moved by music and disrespect anyone who is, because there so immature, especially when sharing it on a music forum. Am I cool yet guys?

Don´t worry, be proggy. Music is sensation, perception, hapiness and life is a boat of tragedy sometimes. Think about it, please, and try to respect personal opinions.

My three, well not exactly three but applicable none the less.
Opeth-- All Albums
Porcupine Tree--All Albums
The Flower Kings--All Albums
I know, not every song/album is a masterpiece except for a few. But all have had significant impact on this old guy. Rekindling my love of prog.
