I understand violinist Nigel Kennedy released a progressive rock album in collaboration with keyboard player with Dave (David?) Heath. Anyone know anything about this work?

It's called Let Loose:
"Kennedy's rock recordings include collaborations withZPaul McCartney, Talk Talk, and Kate Bush, on herZalbum The Sensual World and on her single "Experi-Zment IV" from the album The Whole Story. He alsoZcomposed his own progressive rock album Let Loose Zwith keyboardist Dave Heath. "Writing rock music real-Zly helps me," Kennedy maintained in Vogue. "BeingZinvolved in compositional techniques yourself makesZyou appreciate the techniques of the classicalZcomposers."" http://www.musicianguide.com/biographies/1608001157/Nigel-Kennedy.html |

Ricochet is that all that website provides?
NIgel Kennedy also released another rock (ergo prog rock) album Kafka which I think is superior to Let Loose - however, both albums were better* than the few jazz albums he had issued previously on which he sounds very stiff - my pet theory is these virtuoso classical trained musicians are inhibited from letting loose on improv or playing bum notes (deliberate or not) and don't sound spontaneous nor play from the soul. Kennedy's teacher Menhuin played with Stefan Grapelli and whilst he could readily play note for note what Grapelli was playing his improv was stiff. The best rock I've heard Kennedy play is on the Hendrix tribute album Stone free - he ,and Pat Metheny on another track, were the only ones here who managed to take the barebones of a Hendrix tune and build something fresh, whilst the rest of guest musicians did poor imitations of the originals. Nigel Kennedy teamed up with John Etheridge (who has partnered more than his fair share of violinists) for the Kennedy Experience, which is closer to the KronosString Quartet's takes of Hendrix than rock. * Even then Nigel Kennedy playing rock shows he has listened and absorbed both Jean Luc Ponty and Eddie Jobson's styles of playing. |

It's all I scraped from the website, I've word-searched for Kafka and Stone Free, nothing. I'm interested in Kafka.

![]() glad to see Kennedy's universal tastes for music, focused on good areas; as a violonist, he's very good, but also has his weirdness. |

I saw Kennedy with The Who inthe Royal Albert Hall DVD.
Simply amazing, the best performance ever of Baba O'Riley (I always hated the harmonica replacing the violin), he stole the show, and believe me, it's hard to steal the show from two egomaniacs as Pete and Roger.
People gave a stand up ovation.
