I was reading through this thread thinking maybe they might be a band worth checking out, but you've just put me off!

I tend to think its a lot harder to emulate Yes than Genesis or many other seventies prog bands. Fred Schendel is a great keyboard player and comes up with some really nice riffs while Steve Babb might be surgically attached to his Rickenbacker he's so tight with his playing.
My only slight misgiving is the lack of a real top class drummer . That hole was filled by Matt Mendians but sadly for only 2 albums (The Inconsolable Secret and Culture Of Ascent). Nothing against Aaron Raulston who is a rock solid drummer, but I would liken it to when Andy Edwards joined IQ for the one album. The technical level was just that bit higher. Check out the live DVD's with Matt Mendians (Live at Belmont and Lex Live) and you will see what I mean. |

Oh but to also add I would like to know when Yes ever did anything like the second disc of The Inconsolable Secret? That makes the album special for me. Certainly they took on the Yes mantle big time when Jon Davison joined but hey ho..
