Yes, so seems to me, but anyway, I like one album by DCD and none by DT, so I voted for DCD.

I'll be the first to vote for Dead Can Dance -- been one of my favourite acts.

Here's a clip of Dead Can Dance performing live in 1986.

I hope this poll has not been done a thousand times before. ;)

An oddball apples and oranges poll, but I had wanted to put some D's together and then thought, while these bands are very different, both got started in the 1980s, both have released quite a few albums, and both have remained active.  And I like polls that can have appeal to different audiences. It's not about better, it's just about preference and/or what you know and like.

Dead Can Dance was formed in 1981, its first studio album came out in 1984, its last full length studio album was released in 2018, but it released a single in 2021.  Dream Theater was formed in 1985, released its first studio album in 1989, and released its last album in 2021.

No need to actively compare them (either in terms of similarities or differences), but it instead just vote for one you like or prefer.  You need not have listened to both bands to vote, but I have prepared a playlist taken from releases of both, which alternates between the two bands.  I wanted cover one track per album.  DT has more releases, so I stopped at A Dramatic Turn of Events while stopping at DCD's last single and including a track from an EP to get more coverage (one track per release).  I know DCD much better, and one might not like my choices from it or Dream Theater -- with Dream Theater for ease of listenability I tried to go with shorter songs, which may make it seem rather ballad heavy perhaps.  I avoided The Ytse Jam which I like (reminds me of Spinal Tap's Rock 'n Roll Creation) because I wanted to try something different.
EDIT: I think I'm going to add a couple of live songs to the list because that can give another dimension to the music.

Just having some fun with the playlist title, and I don't treat my polls as contests.
