Kansas by a mile. Like said before, up until Vinyl Confessions (maybe Audio-Visions), everything they did was incredible, with Monolith probably being my favourite album as a whole. Even Drastic Measures has a few good songs like End of the Age and Incident on a Bridge (which is in my top 10 for sure). Power had a more radio-friendly approach and it was still pretty good then ITSOT had some incredible songs. Freaks of Nature is one of my favourite ever albums and it is followed by their so-called comeback (in the spirit of their sound) with Somewhere to Elsewhere which is awesome too. I just don't think the other two bands can match them in musical creativity whilst rarely making a 'bad' song.

When Nektar took their full classic audio/visual show up to Toronto in 1975, Geddy, Alex & Neil were in attendance and it wasn't too long afterwards that they upped the ante with their own stage projections and presentations... so by 1978, when Nektar first disintegrated, Rush was already riding a new wave of live performance appreciation.
Who was better? .... well, IMO, Nektar beat the pants of everyone back in the daze, but due to their 24 years of inactivity, many others gained an edge during the interim. Rush deserves the prize... just for sticking together.

I like all the bands, but I like Kansas the most out of these three bands.
When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Kansas, followed by Nektar, followed by Rush for me.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

The thing i think that stands out for me most is that Kansas has the most unique form of music of the three. Rush is very straightforward. I mean they're prog.. and syncopated but Kansas just seems to have more depth to me? Songs like Cheyenne Anthem and Lamplight Symphony. That last one is as good of a song as anything you can throw at me. (Except maybe Suppers Ready)
Let's make Prog a family again. Tired of Snobbery and trolling. We all have a right to love what and who we love so lets respect and appreciate all who care about the finest music in the world... prog

All in all I like all 3 bands, there are several lp's by each that I really like,  but I suppose if forced to choose I'd go with  Kansas since song For America is one of my favorite prog albums.

Rush are a great band in their own right, and provide us with one of the all-time greats of prog rock, 2112 Overture. I don't know anything about Kansas, so I'll turn to Nektar.

Nektar are bona fide prog masters, it has to be them

Between these three bands, Rush would be number one even though classic Kansas has many progressive elements I delight in; however, all too often Kansas resorted to Mid West rock cliques I so disdain.   I'm not qualified to rank Nektar.

Nektar for me. There even was a time when they were my favourite prog band.

Big fan of all three. I've seen all of these bands at least twice each. I actually like Rush the best but voted for all three.
