All great but Crossings in a league of its own - and among my desert island disc/all time favorite albums.

Sextant is close; I love those tracks.
Crossings takes it here for me.

I did the same poll back in 2009. Crossings over Sextant over Mwandishi. I do love all three, and Sextant was my first love.
If you haven't yet checked out Eddie Henderson's Realization and Bennie Maupin;s The Jewel in the Lotus (also love Quasar and Water Torture versions off his Slow Traffic to the Right -- those are on Crossings for those that don't know), and Julian Preister's Love Love, consider getting those. |

Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

I'd argue a 12 year old poll is absolutely fine to re-do. This is like saying "I made a post about this in 1989", back in 2001-2002 lmao. I agree with link.

Crossings, but I prefer his earlier 'piano jazz period' like Maiden Voyage and Speak.

Indeed, and I hadn't meant to imply that it's not fine to re-do -- that wasn't in my mind when I mentioned it. Just my way of saying I cared enough about these albums to make a poll dedicated to the trilogy myself over a decade ago and I still care about them. Had it been 30 years ago it would be just as meaningful to me. Being here as long as I have been, a lot of polls now do feel to me like a trip down memory lane since many people do get the same ideas, but I like to see people appreciating the same things and hopefully exposing people to music they care about through such polls. I appreciate the poll and that you took the time to present it. Sorry if that did not come through. I like it when I have common ground with other people here, although I also enjoy exploring and finding out about the differences (I wouldn't like it if this was just one big echo chamber and I think it's good to step out of one's comfort zone and bubble, but finding commonalities with other individuals is important to me as part of this community).
