My favs are Heaven and Hell and Albedo 0.39 (Nucleogenesis is a great couple of tracks). CHina follows but I really like them all. I actually bought Odes on vinyl in Agios Nikolaos (Greece) together with Parodies, the other collaboration with Irene Papas sp now I know how Vangelis is written in Greek.

I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Very difficult to choose, since there are many albums I love here. I voted for Heaven and Hell, but any could win, and that’s fine with me.

There's just too much music to delve into and too little time - this is another artist who I know so little about....

If you're short of time, I'd recommend just listening to Heaven and Hell. That's the album I voted for. You may recognise the theme from the Cosmos TV series with Carl Sagan.

Earth is the missing link between Aphrodite's Child and his solo career and must be the most proggy one in the "litteral" classical sense. Yet i doubt many had a listen to it as it is not marketed as well as the Albedo's, Beaubourg and heaven's of this world...

45 years of prog listening and still movin'

Albedo 0.39 is my favorite from his entire career, so that gets my vote.
Edit: And two songs from this album also appeared on Carl Sagan's Cosmos series. Edited by progaardvark - November 22 2021 at 10:11 |

I love just about all of these (not equally). La Fete Sauvage, Ignacio and Beauborg still need to be heard by more people. But this is (easily) my favorite.

I think Vangelis' latest Juno to Jupiter project is probably his best album overall, so it should win easily in the fourth & final Vangelis poll - although I've been wrong before.

I see that I love most of these at least as much probably more than you Psychedelic Paul - and consider The Dragon to be a full blown krauty prog/psych-masterpiece. Earth, L'Apocalypse des Animaux, Sex Power... and those 1979 albums too - all wonderful. Only Fais Que Ton Reve Sot Plus Lang Que La Nuit feels inessential for a fan such as myself, really.

So, why is Vangelis only prog-related?

It's a mystery to me too. Vangelis is surely a shoo-in for Progressive Electronic.
