True these are more "out there" records but it's Krautrock! So who let Dolorosa in here then from France? And with a title like "Het!" aren't they Zeuhl? Questions. And Trees Speak are from the desert in Arizona, what gives?

Thanks for the inclusion of Dzyan, John; though I have not heard all of these, Electric Silence is where my heart lies, for sure!Thumbs Up

Electric Silence and Edge of Time feel like two spiritual journeys coming from very different places. But they are both among my most listened to kraut-albums.

Also love Trees Speak. Vertigo Of Flaws may be their greatest so far (or Ohms). While undoubtly in depth to german motorik etc... they've managed to carve out their own sonically interesting niche. I think. Electric Orange are alright. Maybe even great. A perfect pastiche of the early 1970's kraut-sound. Easily surpassing many of the lesser known bands. To be quite honest, I may have enjoyed it more if I didn't know it was a 2007-release.

Listening to Tomorrow's Gift's second album for the first time right now and loving it. I do remember their debut as an enoyable and energetic little gem with great grooves/playing - and slightly annoying vocals (but not among the worst). They pull of this more experimental, jazzed up Canterbury-approach surprisingly well. Probably not so surprising with such a capable trio of musicians. I remember quite liking Ibliss as well. But it's been ages. Maybe I should give them a second chance. Never heard of Dolorosa.

Today I feel like Dzyan over Dom, but both have been favorites of mine for a couple of decades.

Dom over Dzyan, just slightly...Edge of Time is such a weird and uncanny experience.

Dom over Dzyan for me too. Even though I have loved both, Edge of Time is more important to me and surely is my choice. Dom's Edge of Time is one of my very favourite albums in Krautrock and was love at first listen and I still really like it. Dyzan's Electric Silence was one of the first two albums that got me interested in Krautrock (that and Agitation Free's Malesch). I prefer the less rock approach of Dom than Dyzan often, the psychedelic folk qualities and the general atmosphere suits my tastes better more commonlky. Both are great albums, I think, and both I would expect to make one of my Krautrock album polls (as would Brave New World's Impressions... from the last poll).

I thought of you from the time I started playing Dzyan last week to putting the in this poll, I know your a huge fan. Also you seem to be a very big fan of German bands and musicians in general.
For a trio we sure hear a lot of different sounds but guitarist extraordinaire Eddy Marron adds sitar, mellotron and some ethnic instruments whilethe bass player adds super string synth and mellotron as well. Peter Giger on drums! This album is a beast I tell you. Difficult and adveterous.

It was interesting reading this then reading Greg's post with you both having the same top two not so surprisingly.

And I appreciate you bringing them up a lot on the Progears site, it's what moved me to buy four of them on the same order last year. It was actually the last order I received and UPS lost it, it was 2 1/2 months before I got it.

Much respect and thanks! Another post with the same top two. Was there ever a more adventerous time in music then in Germany in 1971. No compromises with most of these releases.

Thanks, John, for saying that. I feel a kinship with things German, not only the music, but love looking at photos of the old architecture in Germany.

Off topic but here is what I as a German love most about Germany (presented by an American, apparently):
