Thought it would be interesting to pit the top 3 albums (based on PA ratings) of two of my favourite bands, against each other. I hadn’t realised that it would be 3 early Marillion albums against 3 recent IQ albums!

Top 3 Marillion albums:
Misplaced Childhood (4.27)
Script For A Jester’s Tear (4.25)
Clutching At Straws (4.19)

Top 3 IQ albums:
Road Of Bones (4.25)
Resistance (4.15)
Frequency (4.11)

Makes it an interesting poll. One which I’m struggling to vote in! For me, the second most popular from both bands is not one of my own personal favourites, but the other 4 are albums I adore!

I’m going to have to sleep on it😵‍💫

I marginally prefer IQ to Marillion overall, but I prefer those 3 Marillion albums.
My top 3 IQ albums would be Subterranea, Ever and The Road of Bones. I simply cannot get into Resistance at all.
My top 3 Marillion would be Seasons End, Fugazi and Clutching at Straws.
I couldn't pick between those sets, because they're all brilliant albums.

weirdly it's almost (but not quite) Marillion's first 3 albums against IQ's last 3 albums.

IQ's first 2 albums are almost as important to me as the last 2 if not more so. With Marillion I generally prefer their most recent albums over their early albums!

I'm always going to vote IQ in any neo battle because I'm a fan. For me Marillion is more of a respect thing than a love thing.

So, I like Script more than the three IQ albums, but I like all three IQ albums more than the other two Marillion albums. I guess IQ gets the vote here. My front legs are more tired than my back legs.

This has boiled down to Script v Resistance, as I can’t split the others (all 5* albums for me)

So, if I had to pick Script or Resistance to listen to now, what would it be?
