Third Reich, Meet the Residents, Eskimo... all genius. I think a lot of their newer stuff is pretty weak, but the classics (especially before they started using synths) are amazing,

I love pretty much everything up to the Mole trilogy. There's been plenty of good stuff since then, but somehow they no longer sounded quite so surprising or original. Duck Stab/Buster and Glen is probably the peak for me.

For me it's their newer stuff that I like the most.  Animal Lover in particular.

For me The Residents are one of those groups best appreciated in video form.

I like allot of their "newer" stuff. I'm currently trying to get hold of the Is Anybody Out There dvd. But it's definitely more art than standard prog.

I think Not Available is a masterpiece. I also really like The Third Reich 'n Roll and Duck Stab/Buster & Glenn. For some reason, I really don't like Commercial Album at all though.

The Commercial Album is one of my favourites, but it does seem to divide opinion. There are more ideas in its 40 minutes than there are in many bands' entire discographies, and a lot of it is genuinely catchy in a slightly perverse sort of way.

I've had "Hello Skinny" stuck in my head at various times today.  (Check the video if you haven't yet - quite disturbing.)

Oh there is mucho mucho love here for the Eyed Ones.
No band has changed my life more.  

They're the one group, without a doubt, for whom I can call myself fanatical.  I have at least 80 recordings at last count.  Scary or sad, I'm not sure which.  Okay, both.

While I mostly love the early "classic" period (Santa Dog through The Commercial Album), there is a ton of great material that comes after that.  Of the most recent I'm with Slarti--Animal Lover is tops (top dog?).

To anyone reading this living in Europe, go see the tour that is happening now.  It's well worth it, probably my favorite show since Cube E.  An interesting mix of improvised storytelling and fresh takes on old songs.

I only have Tweedles! but I find it to be pretty enjoyable. The whole album's about a sex-addicted clown, and it has some really hilarious lyrics! LOL

I was feeling kind of depressed at the time so I didn't go.  Not really a good band to go see in that state. LOL

Ah yeah, that may very well have been a wise move.  Given that a good majority of the songs are about loneliness, failure and the death of loved ones, the Residents may not be the best pick-me-up band when the black dogs are after you.

I'm fairly certain there will be a DVD.  As I understand it, there's a DVD of the Bunny Boy tour in the works (separate from the DVD of the internet series).  Residents.com has available every single show of the Talking Light tour for download.

Third Reich 'n Roll is actually my least favorite from their classic era (up to about  1983/84). It's still a solid threeandahalf/fourstar, though.
