About a month ago I was skimming through 'The Court of the Crimson King.' Today, I've skimmed through 'Tarkus' and thought: "Gee, it's been such a long time, this stuff still sounds really good. There are even some tight parts I actually forgot!"

Have you ever had the similar kind of experience? With what albums?

I got that feeling when I decided to listen to The Geese and the Ghost By Ant Phillips. It must have been more than a year and I was still blown away. It's so good

That happens to me everytime I re-listen to the "archetypal classics".
I may not listen to them very frequently anymore, but when I do, I think to myself "gosh this was really great stuff, these modern bands can be good but they do not hit the same level of inspiration".

I guess no need to mention specific albums, you can guess what I mean...

That happened to me when I started listening to The Dillinger Escape Plan again earlier last week. I hadn't listened to them since early in my high school days, and now I'm really digging them again.

It's happening right now with me.  Earlier today Bearded Bard (I think) posted the Weidorje (Magma spinoff) album in the "What Are You Listening To" thread, and that inspired me to listen to it, probably the first time in 10 years.  It's playing right now on the big stereo, and it sounds better now than even I remember it.  It's in Magma's league, easily.

I never forget and old stuff is never far away in one form or another.

But I get what you're getting at and it was when Tales came up in rotation and I put it in while driving.  It's still an old unremaster but the music...
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

It happened to me with Dream Theater a few years back, and hasn't really let up since; and led me to get into more modern prog than I had known before (which was very little).

More recently, Ive been going through all my John Scofield albums and have been loving them so much!
