I love Close to the Edge so much... It is hard for me but I go with Genesis.
I would have to vote for an album I'd easily say CttE, but the fact is that I am huge fan of Gabriel-era Genesis, and although I really like other Yes works, It has not the same impact on me.

I love both of these bands to pieces.
In the end it comes down (for me) to Genesis being less able to ruin otherwise great songs and ideas by tackiness or over-extension (end of Heart Of The Sunrise, extension of The Rembering and The Gates Of Delirium being my personal peeves).

Love both, prefer Yes.
Really it comes down to -- Yes has more albums that I love, but I'm very picky when it comes to Genesis

Like Yes, love Genesis - so they get my vote.
The winner of this will win the final, I think.

These are my top two bands but for me Yes is number one. I still remember hearing The Yes Album for the first time. I had never heard anything like that before. That impact was huge and changed the way I listened to music.

I listen to both quite a bit, but my choice is Genesis. Trespass through Trick of the Tail are all considered classics by me. For Yes there are only about three albums i listen to the most from them, The Yes Album through Close to the Edge, Relayer is good but not great.

My favorite Genesis albums are : Trespass, Nursery Cryme, Foxtrot, SEBTP, The Lamb..., Trick of the Tail
My favorite Yes albums : Relayer, Close to the Edge, Fragile, Drama
All excellent albums, but I have more Genesis favorites than Yes favorites... But Yes recorded The Gates of Delirium...
Harder than I thought...
Yes have better vocals (by far), better bass (by far), drumming is top quality in both bands, keyboards also (though I have a slight leaning for Banks), top guitarists on both sides...
Saw both bands live and preferred Yes...
I go with Genesis... More Genesis favorites than Yes favorites.

Genesis by a little bit. The greatest Genesis tracks never bores me, Yes has few of those tracks. I am a huge fan of everything Genesis from Trespass to Duke, with Nursery Cryme being one of my all-time favorite albums. Yes are still great, but Genesis is a band more suited for me.

Not a big fan of either- but I said YES- because I like Relayer, and that numbered album- 90815 or whatever.

i could never understand Genesis. Yes had a better, fuller sound to my ears, and more talented instrumentalists whereas Genesis seemed to sound a little flat and cheesy. Gabriels vocals/lyrics bother me as well. Yes by a long shot.

I love Yes up and down, but Genesis... I feel like I _know_ these dudes... I _get_ it. Genesis seems more honest to me. Toss me into the middle of Firth of Fifth or Heart of the Sunrise-- both punish me, but-- When I hear Yes, I feel impressed; when I hear Genesis, I feel like I _wrote_ it.

Toughest poll ever.. When I want something more aggressive or experimental (and don't have any RIO on hand), I'll reach for Yes, but most of the time I prefer Genesis. I really don't know what it is about them, but I just love their music.

Crimso seems to be taking the other round, so if Genesis wins the final will be a piece of cake, but if Yes wins, then it will be extremely difficult to choose between them. Come on Yesmen get your votes in, I want the challenge!

Definitely Genesis, although Yes have made some brilliant music as well.
