I know how difficult this question is, but... I just wanted to know the public's preference

I can't decide sincerely...

Oh my good freaking lord, USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. I don't want to sound like a prick, but geezuz, give this topic a rest.

Welcome aboard claugroi! Personally I'd pick early Genesis. Yeah, this topic has been discussed several times and most of the members here are sick of it actually. Don't be turned down though, lots of good people around here, and my mate Hughes is one of them I assure you. You'll do better next time mate.

Come on guys...newbie here. This sure beats posting thread after thread in the wrong place...and besides, I like periodic checkups on this. I like to see how people vote after time has passed.
Anyway, welcome claugroi. Hope folks here aren't too hard on you.
My pick is Yes, for two reasons- one of which is how Genesis has never returned to form.

I don't care if it's a newbie or not. At all the other forums I go too, people get their account suspended for several weeks if they abuse the lack of using search function for topics that are done to death, which is more than reasonable.
Would you go to a economic issues forum and ask "What is inflation?"
No you wouldn't because you can research it yourself by using the search function because you would assume the topic was done already many times, so why would you come here to put up a Yes vs Genesis poll?
Other people go out of their way to make creative polls, and these polls are are insult to those who took the time and effort to make a poll that was intelligent, hasn't been done to death and was creative.
The older members around here know that I can be very helpful around here as JayDee pointed out , but people are also aware that I have quite strong opinions that others might not like either.

Well I did like the Eloy vs. Triumvirat poll. Can I talk about Hawkwind and Stacia's magnificent breasts?

| When I first got cracking around here, I made a lame poll or two...and sometimes still do. So what? You don't like the poll? Ignore it.
As I said before, a Yes vs. Genesis poll is okay periodically to me. I like to see if opinions change. I think newbies are perfect people to do that for us. What's the big deal? Live and learn.

When it comes to the oldies and goodies, Genesis has held up longer than Yes. Of course for me it never really is an either/or proposition.

Good question, especially because that Trevor Horn album sometimes proves more enjoyable than Going For,..and always better than Tormato. If we are pitting Bruford- Yes with Peter- Genesis, then the latter for me.

Very difficult. When I match their best periods ( Genesis from 'Nursery Cryme' to 'Wind and Wuthering' versus Yes from 'The Yes Album' to 'Going for the One') I have one single reason to vote for Genesis:
Yes had one real flaw (TFTO).

Yes for me. I like Genesis and enjoy their music every time
I listen to it, but I donīt listen to them quite often.
Iīm not sure of the reasons why I donīt feel so impressed
with Genesis and was thinking on posting a thread to talk about
this subject, in order to understand why Iīm not appreciating
them as much people here does.

I'd advise you not to bother. There isn't anything anyone can say that can change your perception of music. I'm never going to like Yes, and some people are never going to like Henry Cow, and I'm okay with that.

That's the exact point, Epignosis. I wanted to see if Genesis would win against Yes (Yes won many times before.) And as you can see, this time Genesis is winning. If someone doesn't want to vote on this poll, so DON'T DO IT ! it's so simple !! hahahaah

I used to like Genesis just a bit more than Yes.
These days it's the other way around.
Both bands are unique for me, because they made many albums that I like.
With other prog bands that I like, there are most of the times only a few albums that I like (ELP, Jethro Tull, King Crimson etc.)
But Yes and Genesis made many good albums. Only from the eighties on there were some albums that I would see as not on the same par as their early work anymore.
