Weird-ass selection. Many left out, including Peter Gabriel and Ian Gillan.

Can't believe Dagmar would be in there, and girlish Micky Thomas of the horrid Starship.

I like Can's Damo Suzuki, but he's a crazy man who purposely avoids standard singing (more into nonsensical bits). There's respect for Robert Wyatt, though he brings perhaps too much accent into the music.

Robert Wyatt! Moon in June (especially the version from 68) is his vocal peak IMO. So much emotion.

Well, it's not like if it was the first poll dedicated to singers.

This list will get no complaints from me.

I love the selection; many of my favourites here. Robert Wyatt is one of my favourite vocalists even if he is not a great singer (same with Leonard Cohen for me). I find Wyatt's delivery intimate and I often find him down-to-earth. Emotionally it resonates with me.

Catherine Ribeiro and Pascale Son are major favourites of mine. Demetrio Stratos is great, I happen to enjoy Dagmar Krause a huge amount, I love Kira Vollman, Kate Bush, Celia Humphris, Renate Knaup, and like Damo Suzuki's contribution to Can a huge amount. Like others too on the list.

I don't feel really comfortable voting as there's so much that I love, but I'm going with the majority and voting for Catherine Ribeiro. I'm in a Paix mood, so playing that right now.
Watching while most appreciating a sunset in the moment need not diminish all the glorious sunsets I have observed before. It can be much like that with music for me.

Maybe so, but then again it's rather refreshing to see discussions about other bands than Yes, Genesis, King Crimson, ELP and so forth. We've got thousands of those threads.

As Logan said, the list gets no complaints from me. In fact I much prefer many of these to the usual suspects. Personally I feel Demetrio Stratos pretty much dances circles around the lot, but again that is my preference. That's not to say that Peter Gabriel doesn't tickle my fancy, he sure does, but he doesn't give me goosebumps like fx Pascal Son does...or Catherine Ribeiro for that matter.

As for Damo? He's the man and more like a human beat box instrument and brilliant at that. He'd most likely stink doing And You and I, but then again so would Jon trying to get through Oh Yeah

Surprisingly the Catherine Ribeiro-fanboys are the worst - and I love it. My favourite poll ever. I do think Robert Wyatt is a great singer though. As in a real great singer

For people complaining about singers not-appearing-in-this-movie: this poll is the sequel to this first poll:

Then, I brought back Jon Anderson.

But you removed Peter Hammill.

So, I also brought back Peter Hamill.

Then, some people began noticing some strange things in the list:

One guy was aware this was a multiple choice poll:

And the message who gave me ideas for the present poll:

Originally posted by Saperlipopette! Saperlipopette! wrote:

^I'm quite familiar with Inga Rumph and of course she's got powerful voice, but I'm not necessarily interested in those most powerful female-or male voices.
Some of my actual favorites within the "prog sphere" are:

Kira Vollman (Non Credo)
Pascale Son (Cos)
Celia Humphris (Trees)
Kate Bush
Roy Harper
Richard Sinclair
Robert Wyatt
Demetrio Stratos (Area)
Catherine Ribeiro - now that's the most powerful voice in music that actually appeals to me
Damo Suzuki - not because he's a conventionally gifted singer I just like the tone of his voice.

+ Captain Beefheart & Peter Hammill

And to be honest, I am the one spam-voting for Catherine Ribeiro after noticing the disturbingly high amount of votes for "the Troll's choice".

Also, I left some empty spots and asked people for suggestions. I got 4 suggestions for 8 seats if I'm counting right.

Are you slaves to the button: TLDR, skip the debate, just click/vote?
