For me it's a three-way tie between IQ, Pendragon, and Pallas. However, while I like more albums by IQ then the other two, Pallas's 'The Dreams of Men' and 'XXV' are simply masterpieces. Still need to hear the new album by them.
So Pallas for me. |
The Dreams of Men is one of my favourite modern prog albums of any genre. I don't know enough about Pallas though .The Sentinel seems highly rated, how does that stand up alongside their modern albums? (sorry if this is not meant to be a discussion about neo prog in general) oh and where is Arena? |
'The Sentinel' is okay, but for me it doesn't compare to their more recent albums. It's definitely softer then the harder rocking 'Dreams of Men' and 'XXV'.

Not so. I think Hogarth is brilliant. So is Fish.
But I prefer IQ overall.

Loved Marillion up until Fish left them - can't handle too much Hogarth crying all the time. IQ it is followed by Pendragon out of the list.

I always thought that Galahad was a unknown band, this poll is the perfect example. But even if they were included, i will still give my vote to IQ.

A bit harsh imo .I love the tone of his voice Funnily enough the same criticism has been levelled at Pete Nicholls as being 'whiney'. A lot of neo has this type of emotive singing. It goes with the territory
