Rick Wakeman has always showed contempt for RRHoF. When he was finally inducted he took it with humour, and everyone, who has listened to Wakeman's hilarious narration on 'Yes Acoustic Guaranteed No Hiss', knows, that he has a lot of humour.
So, instead of delivering the typically 'thank you to my wife and family' speech, he talked about - sex (his wife) - strip shows (his dad) - prostate (his condition). It was a hilarious dadaistic kind of approach, which was really...progressive! http://www.stereogum.com/1934157/yes-rick-wakeman-roasts-his-family-and-describes-his-prostate-exam-in-rock-hall-induction-speech/video/ And this video has a little bit better sound. Wakeman's speech starts at 7:00. |

Wakey is usually good for a laugh or two. I'll watch it later.

That pompous t**t in the NYT needs to get a sense of humour.
Wakeman's very funny.

was funny but think he want on too long---
He said some things Squires young daughter standing behind him--- should not have heard Squires wife didn't get to say her prepared statement on Squire---apparently the show keep telling him to" wrap it up" and he didn't ----so she never got to thank Chris etc so all in all while humorous----he went on too long and didn't do what he was suppose to do and introduce Squires wife----think a proper tribute to Chris was important

I thought his speech was a little 'close to the edge' for my liking. Now I don't want to 'talk' out of my @ss and I know my argument might be 'fragile', but as the 'relayer' of this opinion I'm trying not to create too much 'drama' here. All I ask of everyone here is just 'open your eyes' to the truth and 'yes', move 'heaven and earth' to get this message out.

Did someone seriously say they didn't know who Wakeman was? Whatever are they even doing here then?

I loved it. He's the kind of friend you'd want at parties.

have to say I generally agree with Downes----especially the part about rabin and rick----clearly there are two Yes camps who will never see eye to eye and clearly hate each other---sad as a long time Yes fan but can sort of see how this all happened

If that is a real quote, and not some kind of spoof, it is as much a comment on Downes as anything else. There was no need for the crack at Anderson at all, and rather showed him up for what he is.....a not particularly pleasant chap who works as a hired hand for "Official" Yes. Horn single handily responsible for 90125.......reeeeealy? Edited by lazland - April 13 2017 at 01:34 |

I thought he was referring to Drama. Or Fly From Here. I wondered where the success was. The other Trevor was responsible for 90125. Oh, and Chris Squire of course. Lost of hostility, antipathy, loathing and fear, envy and jealousy throughout Yes. |

Horn produced 90125. That is what he is referring to. |

Wakeman's speech was awesome. Should have told the R&RHoF to go to hell. They can suck it. They are a sham.
Wrong Trevor was on stage (should have been Horn). Steve Howe needs to grow up and quit plugging his crappy Yes tribute band he's touring with. I saw them live. They were terrible. Never dreamed I would walk out of a show of "Yes" but I did. Jon Davison is terrible. Geoff Downes is awesome but couldn't hear his keyboards at all on the STeve Howe Yes tribute band show. How could anyone say anything bad about Jon Anderson? Sorry to say this, prog folks, but "Yes" as a band are done. Without Chris, it doesn't exist for me anymore.
