I was thinking about how you guys are going on and on about how prog is great -
Is there anything you hate about it?

I hate how the albums are hard to find, and expensive too... sigh.

I couldn't agree more.

I also hate how prog has such a bad rep with the public.

Yeah the albums are F*cking hard to find. But if you live in California there is this excellent music store called Amoeba Records. It is Heaven, just better. I just found In the Land of Grey and Pink after a long search. Also,I found an Album from Zao, which I never thought would happen. But otherwise it is near impossible to find prog CDs

I find it hard to find vocalists that I really like. Some vocalists tend to be over-dramatic or they border on hair-metal. I've always preferred "natural" voices, like Wetton and Lake (past) and Brett Kull or Guy Manning (present). Singers like Peter Hammill (past) and James LaBrie (present) just don't work for me.

I've heard a lot of prog that I would have liked better if it were instrumental.

I can agree with that.Clap

Dream Theater, Acuity, are two that come to mind (oh..you mentioned LaBrie)

Although I am a devoted fan of Mr Gary Lee Weinrib..............Wink
