CTTE.......always thought Echoes and Supper had a few boring bits in the middle.

As great as pieces like Tarkus, Gates of Delirium, Dogs or Lighthouse Keepers are, it's those three that are the pinnacle of prog probably.
Each has their unique style, and they happen to represent perfectly the band that composed them. If I have to pick one of the three is Close to the Edge, even if they're all easily 10/10 pieces, that one is pure perfection.

I once did this very poll... or was it Echoes against the other two separatley? Not sure. However, I was surprised Echoes was actually the winner back then... at least as far as I remember. It seems things have changed once again around here (the preference in polls is usually shifting... sometimes more than others).

I think YES "Close to the Edge" is the winner, but, GENESIS "Suppers Ready" and PINK FLOYD "Echoes" are great epic tracks.

CTTE and a very close second---Supper I mean CTTE is a perfect piece of prog--it has everything-- Suppers Ready is a very moving piece of music--I guess if I was forced I could find a flaw.

If there isn't Supper's Ready I'd vote for Echoes, but as it is... it have to be Genesis SR (even after more than 30 years of listening to it I love it immensely).

Easily Close to The Edge, which is the most thoughtfully composed of the three by a fair margin. Supper's Ready is pretty good too but if some middle sections were taken out or cut shorter it wouldn't detract (perhaps even improve). As for Echoes, that will always remain one of my least favourites. Too much droning for me. It accomplishes what it's supposed to, but it really doesn't belong in the same league as the others.
