Cirkus. But I don't know whether it is Spanish or Acoustic guitar. |
Listen closely. Does Fripp play a "C" or a "si" ? |
Never mind, but C is "do" (and "si" is B). |
"Spanish" or "classical" guitar is one of the basic types (we can say archetype) of acoustic guitars. These terms may coincide to someone, but in principle, their sounds are very similar. Different types of acoustic guitars distinct mainly in size, by the number of strings or tuning. A vastly different is the sound of various steel or resophonic guitars. (However, I don't remember, something like that was ever used by Robert Fripp.) |
Not quite right. An acoustic guitar has a narrower neck than a Spanish/Classical guitar. Probably the same width as an electric. Spanish guitar does sound different to acoustic though. |
But that doesn't exclude my previous statement at all!
By the way, if we take into consideration that the Spanish guitar is a subtype of acoustic guitar, it cannot sound differently in principle. Example: alto is a subtype of the female voice, so sounds like a female voice. The male voice, on the other hand, sounds significantly different. |
Please yourself. But they do sound different.

During invent the title of this poll I thought about a kind of "Acousting Crimson ". Finally, I found "Spanishing" as a nicer and more convenient term. Namely, "Acousting" can also mean "Unplugged". And I was thinking about distinctive acoustic, respectively Spanish guitar. Enough?

Hell no for eleventh!!!
The same case as Pavlov's Dog. I can't really stand that annoying Surkamp's voice.
And Kayak? 3rd league or what?

Am I the only person who think KC is a little overrated among prog circles. Epitaph, In the court, Peace, Exiles are all very good though. I personally think the 2nd album's a bit disappointing. Cadence is quite a good song but suffers from quite bad vocals imo. I think I remember In the wake of being quite good as well. I think King Crimson is overrated because they are one of the 'trendy' prog bands. I admit they did some good stuff but I could live without In the Wake of and Lizard. Hang on a minute, I DO. Some of their music is a bit cold - I think there are more enjoyable bands out there. Try Supertramp, Pavlov's Dog, Kayak, to name a few. Just my opinion.

Cirkus, featuring Fripp's most distinctive acoustic guitar work. Looks like that back in the day Fripp wasn't much of an acoustic guy.

I always liked Fripps understated acoustic guitar on ITCOTCK with it's use of harmonics for the arpgeggios.

I prefer Cadence and Cascade, beautiful and dreamy ballad.

Definitely Cirkus for me, it shows fripp's exquisite guitar playing and how creative and diverse he is.
