Gentle Giant is too prog, bizarre, playful, and complex for my tastes, but I have to vote for them as the samples of van der graff from this website are terrible (in my opinion) with the cool "Killers" as an exception (it's still not that good)

Van Der Graaf Generator. Gentle Giant are excellent and very intresting, but VDGG are at the top of it all!

Gentle Giant by far. I quite like some of VDGG's instrumental music, but those vocals wreck it for me. Funny, if you'd asked me 25 years ago, I'd have said I hated both of them.

Difficult choice...I vote for GG, I find VdGG are a band I admire, but their music is difficult to warm to...(this from a guy who likes TMV!!??)
